Highlands Opening Huge Success…The longtime home of KFC in the Highlands officially has a new tenant. Yang Kee Noodle opened its third Louisville location at 1004 Bardstown Road at the Baxter Avenue split.
The owners had their eyes set on the Highlands from the very beginning. “We just never found the right site here. It took this long. We opened up at Oxmoor Mall, and now we have Middletown, and finally we’ve got the perfect location here in the Highlands,” said Dan Huckestein, operating partner of Yang Kee Noodle. The pan-Asian style restaurant takes over the old KFC Eleven building, a highly sought after spot in the historic foodie neighborhood.
During the grand opening festivities, Yang Kee Noodle hosted a fundraiser. 100% of the food sale benefited the cnacer support agency, Gilda’s Club Louisville.
The owners have since transformed the property into their own and believe customers will dig the new look.“We’ve got a patio that basically wraps around the building. We took the old KFC drive-thru and converted it into a patio here. We’ve got the fire table and the big pergola,” Huckestein said. “You can order off the menu, but you can also make your own dish and watch them cook it to order in our open kitchen,” Huckestein said. “I think with our bold, ethnic flavors, it should go well with this part of town.”
The Highlands is gaining yet another popular restaurant, and it seems the local foodies couldn’t be more thrilled. – WDRB –Yang Kee Noodle opened its first location at Oxmoor Center in 2003. A second location followed at Middletown Commons in summer 2015.
